New edition of Special Series brings you a special Slovene talent in the form of Baly, whom we got to know and love many years ago at Subcult. This time he returns with a marvelous 3 tracker record, perfect for long summer nights.

Playa Azul comes in hard with great harmonious elements with old school sweet pad leading the way, proggy bassline creeping in the back and tightly placed drum fillers pan the spectrum. Each bar end gets smartly accentuated by mellow tone progression, which fits perfectly in the broody yet driving of the tune. Just don’t let your foot of the accelerator.

Independente goes in completely other direction, yet brakes are still not applied. Drum work is arpeggiated in a smart fashion with toms & perx building the structure of this funky number, and the bass rolls out in full 16/4 turning up the heat. Chord stabs and vox cuts swoop in and you get yourself another tight tune with massive floor damage potential.

The last track finishes off the record in a more serious tone and coming full circle with opening number. It’s all about the sub-bass down here, low horns and filtered nasty vox working in tandem to intro an offset main hook, which goes well into all sorts of FX craziness on the breakdown. Nice slab of proggy techy to move those cones and feet.

SUB CULT Special Series series brings you a spring record with none other than our veteran cultist – Rick Dyno.

His voice is heard clearly and recognised instantly in the opening track My Voice, which growls in a steady four to the floor, anticipating the development of dance elements. Several filtered and FX-ed stabs & chops of vocal bits start flying in and accentuate the flow of the track, while being underlined with a couple of synthy hooks to produce a solid, yet special groove.

The New Me makes a different turn into darker & harder territory, still branding some chopped vox work, while eerie pads set the mood for the tune. Branding frantic hats and a chord of those sweet old off-set analogue hits, the track moves around effortlessly and will surely move the bodies on the floor as well. Dynomite!

Supported By (Thanks): ARMYSTRIA, Joseph Capriati (Italy), Paulo AV (Mexico, Canada), Veztax (Slovenia), Aka Carl (United Kingdom), Christopher Lawrence (USA), Denzo (USA), Disscut (Germany), G8 (Slovenia), Les Hemstock (United Kingdom), Marcos Gerges, Miquel (Czech Republic ), Alan Gretsch, Canuso (Switzerland), Carl Shorts (United Kingdom), Davey Asprey (United Kingdom), DJ 19 (Japan), DJ Robert G (Germany), Filipe Barbosa (Portugal), Johan (di.fm), Jon Connor (United Kingdom), KN (Japan), Manuel Le Saux (Rome), Mark Greene (United Kingdom), Mirko Antico MK_A (Italy), Nick Shaq, Olivier Fx (France ), Andy BSK, Brian Cheetham (Global Dance Session), Brian Gros, CINEXIN (Spain), Dezz (Kuala Lumpur), DJ Jiggy (Portugal), DJ Suzy Solar (Tampa, United States), Dowdzwell (United Kingdom), Markantonio (Italy), Neil Moore (Club Culture), Rectoor (Bosnia), Sven Bass Lovers (Germany), ZK (Japan)

Special Series are back and so is our Slovenian mate – G8 with two tracks for your collection.

Deadfall(s) in the darker realm pinned down by the quarter bass notes that immediately get things going in an overdrive direction. Spliced with proggy FX inserts buzzing around relentlessly, some acid hooks join the party and the stereo image gets busier by every bar, whilst stab vocals manage to ground the frequencies back to the stability of the dancefloor. Definite eclectic drive of all sorts of studio prowess.

The second tune brings a similar dance Desire, yet with a more familiar G8 structure. Breaking percs, chopped vox and dirty gritty cords come into play every so often to keep peaking your interest, until the breakdown dwells deeper with an analogue pad released all around the spectrum. Progression in a layered fashion, the tune nicely marches on the edge of tech-trance and comes back around to its rhythmic core and melancholy feel, perfect for those small hours or closing up your set.

Special Series is back to bring you another peak time record for the summer box and so is Distek with a fresh two tracker.

Jack Back steps in with a prancing canter of the coolest bassline that flows right there in the middle of techno and tech house banks. When the filtered and nicely panned out classic stabs accentuate the already bouncy core, that funky vox work and all the right FXs join along, you know you won’t sit this one out. It’s just a feel good, old days reminisce, get up and down kind of tune, that explodes after the snare’o’sexy breakdown. Jack is definitely welcomed Back.

On the flip side, things get a bit more serious with a proper arpy intro that soon & sure enough blows out in a marching number. Hard and baked as a Rusk, it delivers a driving opposite of the 1st track with its darker synth lines that carry out the whole structure and complement the percussion work with layers and layers of intricate reverb load. A tougher cookie of the two for sure, more suitable for late night audio snacks, yet still goes down smoothly with a beverage of your preference. The floor is that way.

SUB CULT has always been a techno haven for fresh and established talent alike and with our new Special Series edition we welcome Le Son Du Placard to our ever growing roster of perspective producers.

The first tune kicks off in an retro fashion with its growling warehouse bass, hints of raw analogue synthetic half scales played on the last beat synced to parallel percussion channels, while a creepy filtered voice commands Feel My Groove. Indeed a very peculiar groove, descending in the 90’s era, intertwined with a twisted modern take on techno, that will definitely stand out in podcasts, raves & sets alike.

The Toy is toying us with more ambient structure, where the reverbed low pad ushers in a similar nightmarish male vox, both filtered to oblivion. Perhaps also the place, where this tune would move the gatekeepers at their afterparty, the song continues in its quirky use of percussion work and oscillators, filling out the sonic space with devilish frequencies and an eerie feel of the unfamiliar.

After a 4 year hiatus, we welcome back our distinctive cultist GamuT, showcasing his trademark fusion techno with a conceptual record sporting politically incorrect undertone, wrapped up in the Subcult newest edition of Special Series.

The intro track cheekily titled Very Fake News takes a dark, rolling and punchy stab at the so called »media« of today with long filtered pads and a clever use of percussion to slice out intricately set march of thumping bass, proggy staccatos & main arpeggio hook with long breakdowns, ending with cuts of some of the most resounding speech of present times. A breaking peak time floor filler with some breaking news to accompany the message that techno truly represents, all governed skillfully by GamuT.

Second tune comes in with a lighter and wittier touch named Triggered Caterpillar, melting faces and snowflakes of our time. Filled with major stabs, funky vocal chops and moving sub frequencies to bare, this one is oozing fun times on the dance floor. These sweet beats are soon accompanied by the rocking synth line, chopped and placed in all the right places with no safe spaces.

The love for synthwork and creative tonal experimentation is present within all his Subcult releases up till now, and this one is no different. A fine edition for your summer sweating record bag… Welcome to GamuTechno.

Slovenian Techno-specialist Baly drops off an amazing 3-track EP at the SubCult office. Starting off with a rolling “Bruja” that rapidly gains intensity throughout with well-placed stabs, a growling bass-line, and a synth-rise climbing up to the key-points of the track.

The second track is called “This Planet”, which is a deeper and more floating tune with a vocal educating us about evolution and energy. A clean buildup is followed by a smooth drop where the melodies take the overtone and make for an effortless flow.
“Rule My World” is closing off the EP a bit more banging again, sporting an oldschool synth-line and a relentless rhythm. Fresh new techno-cuts for any time of the night brought to you by SubCult!
